We’re pleased to announce that Ten Acre will be publishing the first full-length biography of prolific Doctor Who writer and script editor Terrance Dicks, written by Simon Guerrier with the cooperation of Terrance’s family. Written by Terrance Dicks is provisionally scheduled for publication in 2026.
Simon Guerrier's other books include David Whitaker in an Exciting Adventure with Television, a biography of Doctor Who's founding script editor, also published by Ten Acre. “It's sometimes said that Terrance Dicks, who wrote more than 200 books for children, taught a generation to read,” says Simon. “I don't think that's quite true. Instead, he taught us to love reading – passing on to us his own passion for books. His direct, straightforward style looks deceptively simple, but he had an extraordinary eye for the telling detail, the concise character sketch, the killer line. The more I read him, the more in awe I am. Now, with access to his own papers and a wealth of other sources, I'm going to tell Terrance's story.”

Ten Acre will also be publishing a never-before-released memoir by 1960s Doctor Who producer Innes Lloyd. Assembled from recently discovered manuscripts, diaries and other writings, Innes Lloyd: Memory Box is edited by Charles Norton and will be released in 2026.

Congratulations to veteran comedy writer Roy Clarke on his Knighthood in the New Year Honours. We're excited to announce that we'll be publishing Roy's authorised biography in the second half of 2026, written by Andrew T. Smith, exploring the life and career of the man behind Last of the Summer Wine, Open All Hours, Keeping Up Appearances and many more.
Look out for updates on all three books in the coming months.
